Courage, the original definition of courage, when it first came into the English language ~ it’s from the Latin word cor; meaning heart ~ and the original definition was to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart.
Melissa Bowers is the founder of Courage My Heart, and creator of the Heart Compass Method and Mindfulness Trinity. She is devoted to helping you return to your true self by growing a healthy, inspired and meaningful life ~ full of courage, love and magic. Melissa is a Meditation and Mindfulness teacher, mentor, and Grief guide. She teaches group and private classes, encouraging the mind~body~heart connection through breathwork, mindful movement with Yin & restorative yoga and Pilates, mindfulness meditation, mantra meditation including initiation, and yoga nidra, with a focus on grief and healing.
Her teachers have included Jivasu (Pradeep Kumar) and Mira Rostami who taught her the Naturality or Sahajta practice, a meditation program in association with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Melissa weaves together alchemy & sacred healing, ceremony, and spiritual prayer into her meditations, elements she has learned while travelling, including Tantra meditation taught by spiritual teacher Dada (Acharya Vibhakarananda Avadhuta) in Bali. She is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, a program modeled on the MBSR program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Melissa deepened her personal yoga practice and teachings with a spiritual pilgrimage to India, learning Hatha and Vinyasa flow, Himalayan Kundalini and Tantric kriyas, breathwork, mantra meditation, and completed her Yoga Teacher Training (E-RYT 200) with master teachers.
Melissa explores and shares her life themes and story including love, death, courage, and more recently vulnerability, rebirth, and finding joy. A core value of her teachings is cultivating compassion, empathy, and caring for ourselves, expanding to our circle of family and friends, and outward into the world. She holds a sacred space for her students to be vulnerable, to explore and connect their own life themes and story, and to find a stillness that allows them to listen with their whole heart.
Melissa gives back through her Mentoring Women program offering free meditation, and computer/business skills training to women in need, and paid programs for entrepreneurs/start-ups. She is a student of Ayurveda and Holistic nutrition, and after being a vegetarian since the proud age of 10, is now a vegan. Melissa loves to travel and experience new cultures, religions, ceremonies, and also enjoys the healing powers of the ocean.
