About Melissa

Melissa Bowers is the founder of Inspired Mindfulness Meditation, and creator of Courage My Heart.  Melissa is a Breathwork + Movement + Meditation teacher, mentor, and self-care encourager.  Her teachers have included Jivasu (Pradeep Kumar) and Mira Rostami who taught her the Naturality or Sahajta practice, a program in association with the Canadian Yoga Alliance.  Melissa weaves together alchemy & sacred healing, spiritual prayer, and ceremony into her meditations, elements she has learned while travelling, including Tantra meditation taught by spiritual teacher Dada (Acharya Vibhakarananda Avadhuta) in Bali.  She is also trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, a program modeled on the MBSR program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

In her personal meditation practice and teaching, Melissa explores and shares her life themes and story including love, death, courage, and more recently vulnerability, rebirth, and finding joy.  A core value of her teaching is cultivating compassion, empathy, and caring for ourselves, extending to our circle of family and friends, and outward into the world.  She holds a sacred space for her students to be vulnerable, to explore and connect their own life themes and story, and to find a stillness that allows them to listen with their whole heart.

Melissa teaches weekly meditation classes, monthly {Sacred Sundays} yoga nidra workshops, as well as 6-8 week programs, and 1-5 day retreats, including: • Intro to Mindfulness Meditation: Opening My Heart; • Mindfulness Meditation & Grief: Softening My Heart; • Mindfulness & Stress Reduction: Trusting My Heart – Exploring Courage; • Sacred Heart Meditation – Restorative Yoga Nidra: Light In My Heart; • Silent Meditation: Listening To My Heart; • MBS Spiritual Entrepreneur: My Heart Centered Business; and • Wandering the World: Healing My Heart.  She gives back through her Mentoring Women program offering free computer and business skills training to women in need, and paid programs for entrepreneurs/start-ups.  Melissa is a student of Ayurveda and Holistic nutrition, and after being a vegetarian since the proud age of 10, is now a vegan.  She loves to travel and experience new cultures, religions, ceremonies, and also enjoys the healing powers of the ocean.


Off the cushion: Melissa is a corporate trainer, and past co-chair for The Institute for Performance and Learning (formerly CSTD), Simcoe Chapter.  With an extensive background in adult education, she holds several training and technology designations, including Certified Training & Development Professional (CTDP), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), and is a qualified Adult Education instructor.


I have determined to regret nothing.  I release the past and bless all of its perfect lessons.  I act with courage, passion and honesty in the present; and I create a future from my highest inspiration.
